Kind of like Pig Latin, I guess

Chicken Translate

Magnetic Blue sent me this hilarious story from a Turkish translation blog… it’s all about how, in the hands of an unskilled translator, “rotisserie chicken” in Turkish becomes “chicken translate” in English (or, in this case, “cihichen translate”). Link

  1. Magnetic Blue Says:

There’s also one Turkish character in “Chicken Translate” :)

    See?

    c(i)h(I)cken

    Translator writes what he reads.

Turklish comes from mostly TV advertisements I think.
It’s like some kind of mania. People see some words,
don’t know or remember how to read and this is normal,
how could they know? No need to find right pronounciation,
noone to ask, most of the people hardly reads…

    So let it go :)

Try to pronounce it like you talk in Turkish :)

    - Ooo, velkam Vat du yu wan tu yiit? avIr CihIcken tIranslate is mis gibi masallah.

    It’s funny.
