Monday will do in a pinch:

What up with New Year’s Eve being on a Monday? Guess it’s in keeping with 2007’s insistence on being the Most Awkward Year Ever. In any case, I for one am going to party hard tonight, so come and join me— let’s freak out on Monday! Sleep in on Tuesday, headache Tuesday afternoon, maybe recover by Wednesday or Thursday.
I want to take this opportunity to extend my very sincere thanks to everyone who continues to make this blog possible— Martin Murray, for supporting the blog in more ways than one and keeping me on the right track when things looked bleak; Rachel Kelso, whose photographic artistry never fails to inspire me (and who I’m hoping will donate some more of her art for the new 2008 melissamaples.com layout!), Jonathan Bauer, my very first blog patron, who is still a faithful reader and now a friend, as well as a fantastic blogger in his own right (best food blog ever); and of course all of you, readers of this site, without whom 2007 would have been much less interesting and interactive. You guys make this site what it is, and I’m looking forward to upping the game in 2008. Thanks for sticking around and giving me an even better reason to do what I do. I hope each and every one of you has a great night tonight and a fantastic start to the coming year.
By the way, everyone has their lists ready, right? I have 30 items on mine. Share a couple of yours in the comments, if you don’t mind. Here, I’ll start: in 2008, I hereby resolve to start podcasting of some sort (even if it’s only here and there), and to revamp this blog so that everything has a nice new look and feel for the new year. So go on, what’s on your 2008 agenda?
Have a great New Year’s celebration, everyone.

Mine is simple: “Live.”
Dont simply exist and stop watching things go by. I’ve let things slide in my life for far too long.

In 2008 I resolve to actually do something meaningful with the creativity that is built up inside me. You’ve inspired this resolution Melissa with your always interesting views and wonderful words. I want to reach people the way you do. Thank you too.

I will get out and about with my camera and make the most of living
in wonderful Istanbul! I’m starting to take it for granted and that’s a slippery
slope - don’t want to end up back in the UK!
I’m also going to get to grips with the Turkish language - and not before time!
Wishing everyone a wonderful 2008!

@ Aleighanne me too! I lost 50 pounds (not on WW but just on my own), and I have about another 50 or so to go. Here’s to us!

December 31st, 2007 at 11:56 am
@Baffle you and me both - there’s no excuse for our poor Turkish! And you’re right, I don’t want to end up back in the UK either… though I did love living there, I think that time is over.

Oh. . . .and BLOG!

)

* change my current job in next 3 months
* lose some kilograms (yep me too think it’s necessary
* finish my MA thesis asap
* learn Turkish more (uff I’m sooo lazy about that)
* move to other country and find a good job there
Last one is the most important for me cause I feel it’s time to change my life

December 31st, 2007 at 15:24 pm
@Iwona I know exactly what you mean about needing a life change… it’s hard to be in one place for so many years. I’ll have a drink tonight for you commenting from your new home in a different country this time next year!
December 31st, 2007 at 17:12 pm
I’ll run three marathons 42.2 k. One supermarathon 55 k.
December 31st, 2007 at 17:44 pm
- I recently started the “healthy” living thing, so I will continue that.
- Learn a lot more Spanish so I don’t appear as much like the ugly American in Central America.
- Leave comments when I really enjoy a Daily Bazaar Treasure (which is most of the time).
December 31st, 2007 at 18:20 pm
@Frida: holy god, you are really owning the marathon thing. Amazing.
December 31st, 2007 at 18:23 pm
@John: Awwww, thanks for that. I, too, am trying to comment more - there are so many blogs I read and enjoy on a daily basis, and the writers probably don’t even know I exist. Gonna do something about that.

Happy New Year Melissa!
Cheers

Aww, love the new layout. Thank you for always supporting me!
I’m just renewing my resolve to take a photo every day in 2008, but I plan to be more organized about it. I haven’t even uploaded a single photo I have taken this year, and there about 2000 of them (seriously) to wade through and pick just the best so it might take a while for the “get organized” part.
I would also like to use the fact that I am now a full time housewife to keep up with and comment on the internet a bit more.
Happy New Year!
xoxo
