tenebræ065illuminated

Today I completed my year-long tenebræ self-portrait series, and I have to say, I have more respect than ever for people who do 365 self-portrait projects. I think of myself as the kind of person who likes to take self-portraits, but I ended up reassessing my initial aim for doing a 100 portraits in a year, and settled on 66 instead (yes, there is a significance to that number, kudos if you work it out). One thing I’ve learned: I’m not the type to be able to force selfies. From now on, I intend to take the freestyle approach and simply do them when the mood strikes me. I do like this set, though, which you can view in its entirety here.

Late May showers

The rainy days continue. It’s good thinking weather, and good meditating weather.

Ресторан Маслина

Ресторан Маслина

Carrying on from the world cuisine theme earlier in the week: Restoran Maslina, or Zeytin, or Olive if you wish. Georgian food in Kaleiçi at very reasonable prices, and as you can see, they have a gorgeous courtyard.

A place to balance

farm

I love how I’m constantly discovering little hidden things that are going on all around the Antalya area, and my newest discovery is the Yunus Emre Yogic Ecological Farm, just an hour’s drive outside Antalya. I haven’t had the chance to go out there yet, but it looks fantastic, and of course the idea behind it is right up my alley— yoga and meditation. I’d love the opportunity to take photos around the farm, but I’m not sure if it’s appropriate. It’s on my to-do list to find out. Link

The big difference

Consensus

Normally I’m the type to buy whatever budget wine is on special offer, but this past weekend I did something out of character and spent four times what I usually spend on a bottle. I got this limited edition Consensus wine, and although I was initially freaked out at how much I paid, when I opened it I was absolutely shocked at the quality. I had no idea wine could be so nice. It was so great, in fact, that I’ve gone back and bought two more bottles for my wine rack. I have no idea when I’ll drink them but I’m sure an occasion will come along. I don’t need much encouragement.

My new favourite thing

sushi

I discovered a new restaurant in Lara that does Japanese fusion food: Cosmopolitan Sushi. This may sound like no big deal, but sushi restaurants are pretty rare around these parts, and to find sushi crossed over with Mexican food is just unheard of. I’ve eaten at Cosmopolitan twice now, and both times were fantastic. The prices are decent, as well. Link
