Happy Half-Decade

Typical food poisoning

It’s hard to believe, but five years ago today this site started out as an experiment to see what sort of things I could share with the world regarding life in Antalya. I feel like I’m still very much in the experimental phase, and maybe I always will be, but I love the people I’ve met along the way, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what the next five years will bring.

My most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Interior inspiration

Colours

Flowers

For no particular reason, I’ve taken a recent interest in the interior design of homes. Not designing interiors myself, you understand— just appreciating good home design as an art form, the home as an installation piece. I love it when people make their living spaces beautiful.

A year of Bonbon

A year of Bonbon Balm

Long-time readers may remember my initial review of Bonbon Balm… well, I’ve just received my twelfth limited edition balm, and I love the set now just as much as I did when I first started collecting. Sadly, Bonbon has decided to cease production, which I’m sad about, but I’m still very glad to have this wonderful collection of handmade balms, along with the designer jars, which I’ll get to use over and over.

21st-century convenience

Başoğlu Fish Market

Now that I’ve finally joined the modern smartphone world, I have access to the full spectrum of fun retro photo apps. I know a lot of people have let these apps replace all their other photography, and others refuse to use the apps at all, but I just see them as a way to take quick-and-dirty snaps at times when it’s not necessarily appropriate or convenient to be whipping out a larger camera. It’s just creativity of a different kind.

This is the Başoğlu fish market on a Sunday morning.
