@Tom: problem is, I was never in love in the first place... if you dig back through the marathon posts you can see I already did the new gear stuff, but I'm in love with the gear rather than the running. The new goal, well, it's the marathon of course...

I laughed at the club suggestion - it's an awesome idea, you're absolutely right to suggest it, but I was just imagining something like that in Turkey... *giggle*. People here don't really understand running as a sport; at least twice a week I get stopped on the road by a concerned citizen who wants to know what I'm running from and if they need to call the police for me. They're always baffled when I tell them I'm running on purpose. Then they want to call the insane asylum. Perhaps they've got a point.

Do you think the hating is unhealthy? I guess hate in general is unhealthy, but if it's my motivating factor... I don't know. Maybe you're right.

@Frida: that's my favourite weather to run in, cold and rainy. In the winter here it gets down near freezing and it rains quite a lot, and I love it because it's the only time I can run and not be disgustingly sweaty. I've never run in -30° though, so I bet that presents a different challenge.

I'm doing a long run tomorrow, by the way, so we'll see.

What if you played a head game with yourself and just busted out falling in love with running all over again. Commit to a shorter distance most days a week, treat yourself to some gear, join a club, set a new goal. Sorry, I'm just trying to help you out of the hating mode.

I found this post really encouraging. Until yesterday, I'd not been to the gym for (checks diary) over two months, and I'm finding it hard to get back into it. I'm now trying to tell myself, 'If Mel can do it, so can I'. We'll see if that's true.

I liked the cunning links to 6 projects, btw.

I want to suggest one thing. That you maybe once a week decida a 10 k route, and even more, that you have to get through. Preferably some scenic route you can enjoy looking at things when you walk by. Because the goal is not to run the whole way, but to run and walk. I know how it feels when you think you are going to run and then you somehow "give up" and start walking and everything is ruined. But if the route is long enough, it is ok to walk. And I would start this long route by walking. I bet you want to start running soon if you decide to start by walking. Besides it feels strange to go outside and just walk in the running gear.

About that running everyday issue, I must say I agree with you, it is only when I run very long distances I feel I need a day off once in a while. Not if I run distances under 10 k.

and one thing more... if you think it is too hot, imagine how my morning was, 8° and raining. This is going to get much worse here.
