My housemate Emrah just returned from Konya, and he brought back a few interesting snaps on his cameraphone, so I thought I’d share.
Konya is probably most famous for its whirling dervishes, hence the dervish museum…
…but it also appears to have tranquil, quiet streets and neighbourhoods.
As usual, the thing I was most impressed with was the food— check out these pide, 1.5 metres long, and only 3 lira. Now that’s a bargain.
That looks like the guy who walked up to me in the tile museum in Konya and kissed me. I did not like that. Nor did I like Konya. But that was 10 years ago. Maybe that guy has aged.

Mm, pide…. I miss pide. And lamacun… *tilts head back Homer Simpson style and drools*.

Pardon my cluelessness, but the pide… is that a meal for two? One? Eleventeen? It looks really tasty.

@carpetblogger: Ha! Emrah’s only 21, so I’m guessing he probably didn’t kiss you when he was 11. 😀
@lily: I’ll have some pide in your honour this week, then.

@Radioactive: well, I’ve never had a giant pide like that, but given the price and the fact that they ordered two, I’d say, each one is a meal for one. And yes, pide is *very* tasty.
