There was a dramatic fire at the Meltem fish restaurants in the early hours of this morning. This marketplace is one of Antalya’s more established institutions for shopping and eating, and for anything to happen to it is very sad indeed. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze fairly well, and only two restaurants suffered any major damage. Unfortunately one of those was Bey Baba, which was one of my favourite eateries of all time. It burned to the ground, a complete write-off. I really, really hope they were insured, but I’m not holding my breath.
