Everything is something happened

You know, I like to think of myself as the kind of girl who has her finger on the pulse of all things Turklish, but a bit of choice Turklish viral YouTube media somehow managed to escape my notice. Apparently the English press conference videos of Fatih Terim were a big deal a couple of years ago among English-speaking Turks, who expressed reactions ranging from amusement to embarrassment. Personally, I think it’s great that Terim has the guts to be so bold with his English in front of so many reporters, but I take the point that perhaps in such a public forum, an interpreter might have been a better choice. Nonetheless, I’m glad he rocks his Turklish out. Have a look at the video that started it all:

And naturally, in true YouTube style, that led to remixes:

Although that particular footage appears to be the most famous, I actually prefer this clip, which benefits greatly from the inclusion of subtitles:

I heard a rumour that there are t-shirts available with a line drawing of Terim’s profile and the phrase “everything is something happened,” but so far I haven’t been able to locate the alleged vendor of said alleged t-shirts. Do let me know if you spot any, because I definitely need one.
