In other news, after the longest extended spring ever (someone used the term “Junuary”), we’ve finally burst through into summer. The temperature outside is 40° today, and as you know this is just the beginning. Luckily, this year we finally invested in that luxury of luxuries— an air-conditioner! It’s an amazing device, I don’t know how we survived all those summers without it. I’m dreading next month’s electric bill, but at the moment I’m relaxing in a 25° room and trying not to worry about expenses too much.
OT from this post, but somehow I stumbled upon your account of attending a Goenka retreat. I have done a full course myself, and plan on doing another one when I can. I found your account fascinating, and even though I am going to go again, I do not in any way subscribe to everything that goes on. I tell you, the whole thing was profound and I experienced what I can only describe as existential terror. Those feelings of anger/animosity towards your teacher is something I experienced and pretty common. Anyway, I found the whole thing interesting and thanks for posting it.
